Public Holiday On 12th May – If you’re living in Unnao, here’s some good news for you – 12th May is a public holiday! That means no school, no office, and yes – even banks and LIC offices will be shut. The Uttar Pradesh government has declared this holiday on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, which falls on Monday, 12th May this year.
What’s Closed?
Basically, everything that usually keeps you busy on a Monday:
- All government offices
- Schools and colleges under the Basic Education Council
- Banks (as per the Bank Union’s holiday calendar)
- LIC offices (also confirmed in the LIC Union schedule)
So whether you’re a student, a government employee, or someone planning to run errands at the bank – you get a day off.
Why the Holiday?
12th May marks Buddha Purnima, the full moon day in the month of Vaishakh. It’s a significant day celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha. According to the official calendar released by the District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi, this is a full public holiday in Unnao and likely other parts of UP too.
Quick Heads-Up
